Reykjavík, Iceland: Icelandair reported a strong performance for September 2024, with a 10% increase in passengers compared to the same month in 2023. The airline carried around 458,000 passengers, achieving an impressive 86.6% on-time performance—its highest since 2009 and a 5.6% improvement year-over-year.
Of the total passengers, 31% were point-to-point travelers to Iceland, 16% were departing from Iceland, 48% were connecting passengers, and 5% flew on domestic routes. The overall network load factor stood at 83%. Year-to-date, Icelandair has transported 3.6 million passengers, 8% more than in 2023.
CEO Bogi Nils Bogason credited the success to operational efficiencies and the dedication of the Icelandair team. The airline continues to expand, with new routes to Nashville and Lisbon and a partnership with Southwest Airlines, enhancing its global connectivity.
Icelandair operates a fleet of 45 aircraft and expects to receive its first Airbus A321LR by the end of 2024, further boosting its fleet and route expansion plans.
