Air Serbia is preparing to welcome its third Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which is currently being painted in Lisbon with a unique livery. The new jet, expected to be registered as YU-ARD, will feature a design promoting the Expo 2027, set to take place in Belgrade from May 15 to August 15, 2027.
The livery, created by London-based SVIDesign and its founder Sasha Vidaković, symbolizes the deep connection between Belgrade and its two rivers. The design showcases fluid, ever-changing forms that represent the evolving relationship between the city and its waterways.
Air Serbia views the upcoming Expo 2027 as a significant opportunity for growth. CEO Jiri Marek highlighted the event's potential to boost demand and outlined plans to expand the airline’s network, including medium- and short-haul routes, alongside long-haul services. Marek noted that while the Expo will drive demand, the airline is also preparing for the post-event period when passenger numbers might decline.
The third A330-200, which was previously operated by Air Belgium and was initially delivered to Etihad Airways in 2014, features 262 seats: 22 in business class arranged in a 1-2-1 layout and 240 in economy with a 2-4-2 configuration. The aircraft will retain its original cabin setup and will not undergo major modifications.
Additionally, Air Serbia's fourth A330-200, now in maintenance before delivery, will also sport a special livery for Expo 2027. The airline has previously showcased various liveries, including those honoring Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin, and promoting the "Serbia Creates" initiative from 2019 to 2021.
