Turkish Airlines has retained its position as the busiest airline in Slovenia, handling 99,029 passengers on its Istanbul-Ljubljana route during the first half of the year. This marks a 22% increase compared to the same period last year, adding 17,845 more travelers to the route.

Despite this strong performance, Turkish Airlines is set to reduce flight frequencies to Ljubljana. The airline will cut its services from the previously planned fourteen weekly flights to between eleven and thirteen. This reduction is due to the grounding of up to 45 Airbus narrowbody aircraft for mandatory inspections of their Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofan engines. The frequency adjustments are scheduled to continue until November.

Although Turkish Airlines leads in passenger numbers, it faces competition from Lufthansa, which operates flights from Frankfurt and Munich to Ljubljana and has a higher seat capacity. For the first half of the year, Turkish Airlines achieved an average cabin load factor of 81.4% on the Ljubljana route.
