Austria Soars into the Future with Modernized Black Hawk Fleet

Austria's skies will soon see a significant upgrade as the country finalizes a deal to acquire twelve new UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters from the United States. Signed in June 2024, this 715 million euro agreement marks a major leap forward for the Austrian armed forces, bolstering their operational capabilities for years to come.

These state-of-the-art helicopters will replace the aging Agusta Bell (AB212) fleet, slated for retirement by the end of the decade. The new Black Hawks, equipped with advanced technology and enhanced performance, will expand Austria's Black Hawk fleet to a total of 24.

"With this acquisition, we are making significant progress in enhancing our operational capacity," declared Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner.
