New Delhi: A bomb threat disrupted an IndiGo flight bound for Varanasi early Tuesday morning, causing a security scare at Delhi airport. The threat, which turned out to be a hoax, was discovered when a piece of paper with "[email protected]" written on it was found in the aircraft's lavatory.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani reported that the information about the suspicious note was received at around 5 a.m. Immediate security protocols were enacted, leading to a thorough inspection of the aircraft. Fortunately, no suspicious items were found during the inspection, confirming that the threat was unfounded.

IndiGo flight 6E2211, with 176 passengers on board, was scheduled to depart from Delhi to Varanasi when the threat was reported. Following standard procedures, the aircraft was moved to a remote bay for further investigation. All passengers were safely evacuated via emergency exits.

The bomb threat call was received at approximately 5:40 a.m., prompting swift action from airport security agencies and the airline. "All necessary protocols were followed, and the aircraft was thoroughly inspected. Thankfully, it was confirmed to be a hoax," an airline official stated.

This incident follows a similar scare on May 16, when a tissue paper with the word "bomb" written on it was found in the lavatory of an Air India flight (AI819) at Delhi airport. That threat also turned out to be a false alarm after a thorough security check.

Despite the disruptions, the airline and airport authorities emphasized their commitment to maintaining high-security standards and ensuring passenger safety in all situations.
