Kathmandu,Nepal: Popular Nepali singer Samikshya Adhikari has expressed her frustration with Shree Airlines over alleged mismanagement and delays in its flight operations. In a social media post, Adhikari shared her dissatisfaction after being stranded at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

Adhikari revealed that her scheduled 8 AM flight to Nepalgunj was delayed until 2 PM, despite other airlines resuming flights after the airport reopened following bad weather conditions. She criticized Shree Airlines for a lack of timely communication and claimed passengers were left stranded without adequate updates.
The singer also recounted a past incident where she missed a performance in Nepalgunj due to similar issues with the airline. She suggested that the recurring problems might stem from internal mismanagement or even corruption involving commissions from rival airlines. "I am certainly not the first person to be deceived by Shree Airlines," she stated, urging the airline to improve its services.
Shree Airlines Responds
Anil Manandhar, Corporate Manager of Shree Airlines, responded to Adhikari’s claims during an exclusive conversation with Aviationpana. He clarified that the delay was caused by weather-related restrictions, which are beyond the airline’s control.
“Due to bad weather conditions, we could not fly. Nepalgunj Airport informed us about reopening only around 12:30 PM. Moreover, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) did not grant permission for takeoff during unsafe conditions,” Manandhar explained.
He emphasized that the aviation industry operates under strict protocols to ensure passenger safety, adding that airlines cannot violate these rules. "While flying to one destination, the third nearest airport for backup landing must also be open, which adds another layer of precaution during bad weather," he said.
Manandhar also noted that the lack of aviation literacy among the public often leads to misunderstandings about operational challenges. "Airlines never want delays, but we cannot compromise on safety and protocol. Unfortunately, such situations are sometimes misconstrued, which unfairly tarnishes the airline’s reputation," he said.
In response to Adhikari’s public remarks, Manandhar stated, "Being a public figure, she should understand the real challenges airlines face. Writing such statements on social media sends a negative message to the public about the aviation industry."
The incident has reignited debates about aviation literacy and service reliability in Nepal, with many calling for improved communication from airlines to passengers during disruptions.
