Kathmandu: Himalaya Airlines is preparing to operate regular flights from Pokhara to Lhasa. The company has initiated plans for regular commercial flights seeing the potential to bring Chinese tourists to Pokhara.
Gyanendra Bhul, Information Officer at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, informed that the company is preparing to operate flights on the Pokhara-Lhasa-Kathmandu route.
"Himalaya Airlines is preparing to operate flights from Pokhara to Lhasa," said Bhul. "They are planning to operate Kathmandu-Lhasa-Pokhara flights on Mondays and Pokhara-Lhasa-Kathmandu flights on Tuesdays. However, we are still waiting for the formal proposal."
The airline is a joint venture between Tibet Civil Aviation Development and Investment Company of China and Yeti World Investment of Nepal.
The Pokhara International Airport, which began operations 23 months ago, has not yet had a single regular commercial flight.
