
Qatar Airways has been crowned Airline of the Year for 2024 by AirlineRatings.com, the world’s premier safety and product rating website. The prestigious award saw Qatar Airways surpass previous winners such as Air New Zealand, as well as strong contenders Korean Air, Cathay Pacific Airways, and Emirates.
The Airline Excellence Awards, judged by a panel of five editors with over a century of combined industry experience, evaluate airlines based on safety and government audits, fleet age, passenger reviews, profitability, product innovation, and future fleet orders.
Geoffrey Thomas, Editor-in-Chief of AirlineRatings.com, highlighted Qatar Airways' exceptional performance in numerous key areas. "In our objective analysis, Qatar Airways excelled in many critical aspects. The passenger reviews particularly highlighted their consistency and high standard of service," said Thomas.
The top 25 premium airlines include Qatar Airways, Korean Air, Cathay Pacific Airways, Air New Zealand, Emirates, and Air France/KLM, among others. Qatar Airways also clinched the Best Business Class award for the fifth consecutive year and was recognized for Best Catering. Air New Zealand received the Best Economy Class award.
Singapore Airlines won Best First Class, while Virgin Australia was awarded Best Cabin Crew. Emirates took home the awards for Best In-Flight Entertainment and Best Premium Economy, and Qantas was recognized for Best Lounges. Etihad Airways was named Best Environmental Airline for the third year in a row.
Regional excellence awards were distributed as follows: Middle East – Qatar Airways, North Asia – Korean Air, Europe – Air France, North America – Air Canada, South America – LATAM, Southern Europe – Turkish Airlines, Southeast Asia – Cathay Pacific Airways, and Australia/Pacific – Air New Zealand. Virgin Australia Regional Airlines was named Best Regional Airline.
In the low-cost category, the Best Low-Cost Airlines were: Americas – Southwest, Middle East – FlyDubai, Asia – AirAsia Group, Australia/Pacific – Jetstar Group, and Europe – easyJet. Vietjet garnered awards for Best Ultra Low-Cost Airline and Best Low-Cost Airline Onboard Hospitality.
